2 1/4 cups flour
2 teapsoons ginger
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tablespoon water
1/4 cup molasses
2 tablespoons white sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.

Sift together flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt; set aside.

In bowl, cream together butter and 1 cup sugar; best in egg; stir in water and molasses. Gradually stir in dry ingredients.

Shape dough into walnut size balls; roll in remaining 2 tablespoons of suga. Place cookies 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet and flatten slightly.

Bake 8-10 minutes. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing.
