2 tablespoons water
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
5 eggs well beaten
1 cup gumdrops (do not use spice or licorice (black) as it changes the flavor)
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup flour
1 dash salt

Icing:
1 cube butter softened
juice of 1 lemon
1 box powdered sugar (about 1/2 pound)

Directions:
Directions:
Combine water, eggs and sugar and cream together. Cut gum drops and roll in sifted flour and salt. Add egg mixture, and gum drops and flour, mix together. Add nuts and pour into two ungreased 8x8 inch pans. Bake in a 350º oven for 20 - 30 minutes.

Icing:

In a bowl combine all ingredients and mix until smooth. After allowing cookies to cool a few minutes spread the icing over warm cookies. Let cool and cut into squares.

The frosting should be made first so it is ready when the cookies are still warm.

If you first roll the lemon on a hard surface you will be able to extract more juice.
