3/4 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. molasses
1 egg
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. ginger

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º.

Using an electric mixer, cream butter and sugar. Add molasses and egg. Mix well. Blend dry ingredients together in a separate bowl, then add to creamed mixture. Mix well and chill at least 30 minutes. Shape into 2 inch balls and roll in sugar.

Place on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake at 375º for 10 - 13 minutes. Remove from oven and cool on pan 3 minutes. Transfer to wire rack to cool. Cookies will be soft when first removed from oven, but will firm as they cool.
