Glazed Apple Cookies (Uncle Marvin's favorite) Recipe

Ingredients: 1/2 c. butter, softened 1 1/2 c. light brown sugar, firmly packed 1 egg 2 c. pre-sifted all-purpose flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp. ground cloves 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg 1 c. coursely chopped pecans 1 c. finely chopped, peeled cooking apple 1 c. raisins (optional) 1/4 c. milk (half is enough)

Directions:Cream together butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg. Mix flour, soda, salt and spices together. Stir half of dry ingredients into creamed mixture and blend. Add nuts and apple and raisins and mix. Stir in remaining dry ingredients and milk. Mix well. Drop by tablespoon onto lightly-greased baking sheet 1 1/2 inches apart. Bake in 400º oven 10 - 12 minutes. Remove to cooling racks and while still warm spread with this glaze:
Glaze: 1 1/2 c. powdered sugar 1 T. butter, softened 1/2 tsp. vanilla 2 1/2 T. milk Combine all ingredients, using just enough milk for a spreading consistency. Beat until smooth. Spread on warm cookies. |

Notes: We like them better without the glaze. We think they're sweet enough without. I never added the raisins because our kids didn't like them. Now I make them both ways. Marv likes them with or without.
