1/4 cup anise, peppermint, root beer, or favorite flavor hard candy, crushed
1/2 Sugar Candy Dough
Food coloring, if desired
Light corn syrup
Colored decorators' sugar or candy

Directions:
Directions:
Work candy into dough; mix in food color. If desired chill dough 1 to 2 hours for easier handling. Heat oven to 375º. Roll dough 1/4 inch thick on lightly floured cloth-covered board. Cut with 2-inch round or 3-inch shaped cookie cutters. Place on ungreased cookie sheet; carefully insert 6-inch skewer through each cookie. Bake 6 to 8 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool slightly before removing from baking sheet. Cool thoroughly; brush with corn syrup in pattern. Sprinkle with decorators' sugar; shake off excess sugar. Makes about 20.
