Equal amounts of:
ham, cut into chunks
russet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks

1/2 to 1 onion, chopped,
ketchup to taste (a lot, 1-2 cups),
pepper,
water

Directions:
Directions:
Place the potatoes and onions in a dutch oven. Add just enough water to cover. Cook until potatoes are soft. Add the ham, cook till warmed. Add the ketchup and pepper. As the potatoes cook this will thicken. Add more water if necessary

Dorothy Bryant made this recipe using leftovers, so the amounts changed each time. This was a favorite "cold weather" food for Carl as a child and after he grew up. It also works well in the crock pot.
