Mother's Molasses Cookies Recipe

1 c. molasses
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. butter
1/2 tsp. ginger
2 eggs, well beaten
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. hot water
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. baking powder
5 c. flour, approximately

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º.

Combine molasses, brown sugar, butter, and ginger. Bring to a boil in a saucepan. Cool. Add beaten eggs. Dissolve the soda in the hot water and add to mixture. Sift remaining spies and the baking powder with 2 1/2 cups of the flour and add to the mix. Add remaining flour (more if necessary) until dough is stiff enough to roll. Chill.

Roll to 1/8" thickness and cut with cookie cutter. Place on greased baking sheet and bake for approximately 12 minutes.
