Ingredients:
1 cup shortening
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1 can evaporated milk
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
3/4 tsp. salt
4 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, sugar, and egg. Add milk and Vanilla. Add sifted dry ingredients. DO NOT add too much flour...just enough to have dough hold together. The less you mix the dough, the better the cookies will be. Roll out dough (just kind of pat it) and then Cut out cookies and bake at 350 for 8-11 minutes. Do not let cookies brown. Cool and then ice.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
LaWana's famous Valentine Cookies...She always iced with pink frosting and cut cookies in heart shapes for Valentine's Day. Of course they are delicious all year long.. Use just plain powdered sugar icing. Can add cream cheese for a unique flavor or other flavorings such as orange or maple nut.
