3/4 c. brown sugar, 3/4 c. sugar, 1 c. shortening, 2 eggs(unbeaten), 1 tsp. hot water, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1 1/2 c. flour, 1 tsp. soda, 1 tsp. salt, 2 c. quick oats, 1 c. chopped nuts, 1 pkg chocolate chips

Cream shortening, add sugars gradually, cream until light and fluffy. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating after each addition. Add hot water and vanilla to creamed mixture. Add oatmeal and dry ingredients, nuts, and then chocolate chips. Drop by spoonfulls on greased cookie sheet. Bake.
