1 cup lard
1 egg
1 1/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup molasses
1/2 cup hot water
1 tablespoon baking soda
1 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
6 cups flour


Directions:

Mix together lard, egg, and brown sugar. Mix together molasses, water, and baking soda - add to lard mixture. Add all remaining ingredients. Chill dough at least two to three hours, or overnight. Roll dough out to 1/2 inch or so. Bake at 375º for about ten minutes on a greased cookie sheet.
